Inaugural Affiliate Grand Slam a sea change for SiGMA, associates
How do you boil down an existential opportunity to it’s most sublime elements? Ask the organizers of SiGMA who have taken the industry formula for affiliate conferencing and turned it on its head. With the Affiliate Grand Slam 2017, they limited participation to five affiliate managers and 50 times that many affiliates, but there’s more to the magic formula than that.
Hundreds of affiliates to the iGaming industry were invited to apply for an all-inclusive opportunity with free flights, a two-night stay at the Hilton Tallinn Park in faraway Estonia with excursions, lunches, dinners, and parties thrown in the mix. After strict due diligence, the lucky delegates were selected.
The rules for the event included allowing only five managers to recruit, while another five programs were allowed to sponsor.
After arriving in Tallinn on Thursday 27th April, SiGMA crew members greeted each affiliate at the brand new, five-star Hilton Park. Later that evening each affiliate manager was assigned more or less fifty affiliates to host for dinner at the hotel. With good wine flowing in abundance, marketing managers from Betting Gods, Olybet, PlayOJO, Quasar and Videoslots generously heaped on prime fare and opened their idea books to their group of affiliates to nurture new bonds and strengthen old alliances in a friendly environment far removed from the daily grind.
Inside the hotel is the Olympic Casino where one and all gathered after dinner for a freeroll networking poker tournament accompanied by the lavishing of champagne, dark chocolate, and cigars.
Reportedly about half of the affiliates took advantage of their location and departed for a longer night out in Tallinn’s Old Town with its medieval offerings of cobbled streets, gothic architecture, gourmet restaurants, and nightlife.
Even if some delegates didn’t get all the sleep organizers had hoped for, the next morning most were busily engaged with a welcoming breakfast. After each operator gave a brief presentation a series of workshops was begun. Outside the conference hall, coffee and baltic treats were available along with an exquisite buffet lunch table and mini-stalls providing further information and opportunities. Handshakes and business cards were exchanged as the hundreds of affiliates got to know each other and the operators better.
After another scrumptious dinner, a VIP invitation-only get-together was held at the Olympic Casino.
As conferences and marketing go, SiGMA has reinvented the wheel with Affiliate Grand Slam. The next city, next group of hosts and sponsors, as well as new and returning affiliates have much in store for them.
